Common Camas

Camassia Quamash spp. maxima

Common camas is historically one of the most important native food plant for indigenous communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. Common camas can be found growing naturally in open meadows around the Pacific Northwest and greater San Juan Islands.

Bulbs can be planted into newly seeded or mature wildflower meadows, lawns or garden beds. Camas seed may take many years to grow into a flower and bulbs will flower after planting the following spring. The bulbs grow well in wet to semi dry soil and full to part sun.

Please note: We sell bulbs in the winter and spring and bulbs should be planted no later than January.
