Fireweed, Chamerion angustifolium
Fireweed is native throughout Washington and Oregon and can be found along shorelines and in alpine meadows. It blooms from mid-summer up until the first frost, with pink flowers that grow upward along the stem. It loves full sun and plenty of moisture. It prefers rich, loose soil and is not recommended for clay sites. The plant grows well on disturbed sites such as logged or burned areas because it spreads both by root and by self-seeding.
